Friedenberg begins campaign
Democrat seeks nomination for 12th Congressional Dist.
STATE COLLEGE — Marc Friedenberg, of State College, has announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for the new 12th Congressional District, which contains Mifflin, Juniata, Snyder and Perry counties.
“The Pennsylvania Supreme Court issued a new, fairly-drawn Congressional map that will allow Pennsylvanians to choose their elected officials, rather than the other way around. In this new map, my family and I live in the 12th Congressional District,” he said.
“I first decided to run for Congress because my family, my friends, and my neighbors deserve better representation in government, and I felt called to act. That hasn’t changed just because the map has.
“I’m excited to announce that I’m planning to seek the Democratic nomination in Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District. … There is a lot of overlap between the new 12th District and the old 5th District, not just in terms of the people who call Centre, Clinton, Potter or Tioga County their home, but in terms of the issues they care about. No matter where you live, you deserve a representative who will hold town hall meetings and actually listen to your concerns. No matter who you are, you deserve a representative who will fight the opioid crisis, not one who created it. Whether you live in the former 5th, 10th, or 11th Congressional District, I look forward to fighting for you in the 12th.”
