Bridge construction to begin in April

From staff reports

Construction for the Route 655 bridge, spanning Alexander Run near Kishacoquillas, Union Township, is scheduled to begin the week of April 2 as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.

The bridge is one out of 558 bridges being replaced as part of the project and construction is expected to be complete in early July. While construction is underway, alternating traffic patterns will be set in place and will be controlled by temporary traffic signals.

The Rapid Bridge Replacement Project is a public-private partnership (P3) between PennDOT and Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners (PWKP). Under the partnership, PWKP will finance, design, replace, and maintain the bridges for 25 years. This approach will allow PennDOT to replace the bridges more quickly, save money and minimize the impact their work may have on motorists.
