Man jailed following business evacuation

RICHFIELD — A Port Trevorton man is incarcerated after allegedly sending a text message that resulted in the evacuation of his former place of employment.

Randy L. Hile, 38, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Barbara Lyter on Feb. 12 and is awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for Feb. 21.

According to court documents, on Feb. 9, state police were called to Excel Homes, Susquehanna Township, for threats received from Hile, a former employee.

Court documents indicate that on Dec. 21, Hile was terminated from Excel Homes, a business that manufactures homes.

Documents indicate an employee allegedly received a text message from Hile with a picture of a container of ammunition with ballistic tips from Hile, and other threatening text messages.

According to court documents, building management locked down the building as a result of the messages, interrupting normal business.

During a police interview, Hile indicated that he was upset because he was denied unemployment.

Hile is being held in Mifflin County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500,000 bail.
