Snyder County to host winter meeting

MIDDLEBURG — The Snyder County Conservation District, along with AgChoice Farm Credit, Valley Ag & Turf, Mifflinburg Bank & Trust, Hoover Tractor, Fulton Bank and Renewable Energy Consultants, will host an agricultural winter meeting Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 3939 Park Road near Selinsgrove. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. The meeting is scheduled for 9:00 a.m.

to 3:15 p.m.

The Conservation District is applying for Pesticide credits and Nutrient Management credits from the PA Department of Agriculture.

Presenters will come from Penn State, agricultural and conservation agencies and Evangelical health Services. Topics include: preventing fly problems due to manure, proper animal mortality composting, managing stress and health on the farm, and conservation district and U.S. Department of Agriculture updates. Penn State Extension will discuss reducing pesticide drift, new pesticide regulations, crop management updates, balancing pest control and beneficial pollinators.
