Athorities release name of driver involved in chase

From staff reports

LEWISTOWN — Pennsylvania State Police have released the name of the driver from Wednesday’s crash in Derry Township that stemmed from a police pursuit in Lewistown.

Police said Craig R. Espigh, 38, of Lewistown, was traveling north on Pheasant Valley Road at an unsafe speed and failed to negotiate a right curve.

Police said Espigh’s 1989 Ford pickup traveled head on into a tree at 6:41 p.m.

Police said Espigh was wearing a seat belt, but air bags did not deploy. Espigh was extricated from the truck and flown via Life Flight to Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center for treatment of what police term a “suspected serious injury.”

Police have not yet revealed why they were pursuing Espigh.

Lewistown Police Department is continuing to investigate.
