JC Food Pantry to

hold distribution

MIFFLINTOWN — The Juniata County Food Pantry distributes USDA commodity foods, PA State Food Purchase Program foods, along with donated foods and other groceries to eligible residents at the Juniata County Food Pantry, 114 North Main Street in Mifflintown, on Tuesdays, 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m., and Saturdays 9 a.m. to noon, as well as at our monthly outreach distribution sites in McCoysville and Seven Stars.

To be eligible for this distribution, participants must reside in Juniata County and meet total household income guidelines established by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. YMCA to host

juggling classes

BURNHAM — Professional juggler Jack Anderson will conduct juggling classes for both beginners and advanced jugglers beginning tonight at the Juniata Valley YMCA in Burnham.

Classes will meet weekly each Tuesday through Feb. 20.

The beginners’ class runs from 6 until 7 p.m. and the advanced jugglers’ class runs from 7 until 8 p.m.

Those interested in either class should contact the YMCA at (717) 248-5019 to reserve a spot.

Geisinger to host open house in Lewistown

LEWISTOWN–Geisinger Women’s Health Department will host an open house from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, in Geisinger Lewistown Hospital, Women’s Health Clinic, Fifth Floor, 400 Highland Ave., Lewistown. As part of its commitment to the community, Geisinger is expanding the midwifery program in the region.

Women from the community are invited to meet Geisinger’s certified nurse-midwives to learn about their role, philosophy of care and how they collaborate with physicians to meet individual needs of each women and her family. Six midwives will be present at the open house.

“One of Geisinger’s commitment when it merged with Lewistown Hospital in 2013 is to expand the services to meet the demands of the community. The expansion of services within Women’s Health is one such effort. Geisinger – Lewistown Hospital is also renovating the post-partum rooms at our maternity wards to ensure comfort for our mothers,” said Heidi Loomis, Geisinger Western Region.
