Port Royal man pleads guilty to homicide by vehicle

MIFFLINTOWN — A Port Royal man pleaded guilty, on Tuesday, to charges that resulted in the 2015 death of Naomi Ruth Grix.

Lance A. Zimmerman, 38, pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, driving under the influence and related traffic offenses at Juniata County courthouse before President Judge Kathy A. Morrow.

Sentencing will be scheduled at a future date.

Zimmerman’s charges stem from a Dec. 13, 2015 vehicle crash on William Penn Highway Route 3002 and its intersection with Route 322 in Delaware Township.

According to court documents, a blood draw revealed that Zimmerman had controlled substances in his system during the time of the crash.

Other charges, including aggravated assault by vehicle, homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter and related traffic offenses were dismissed as part of a plea deal.
