Lewistown Police Department

¯ Crash with injuries — 5:09 p.m. — Nov. 22 — Officers were dispatched to a vehicle crash in the alley of South Plaza Drive, where a vehicle hit a telephone pole.

The vehicle was driven by Chantel Worley and had two passengers, Brittany Seville and Amber Heather. There were two reported injuries and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

¯ Trespassing — 2:08 p.m. — Nov. 28 — Anderson Gonzalez-Cruz, 25, of Lewistown, was found trespassing on Mifflin County Housing Authority property.

He then left the area driving a vehicle. Gonzalez-Cruz was charged with criminal trespass and driving without a license through Magisterial District Judge Jack Miller’s office.

¯ Possession of a small amount of marijuana — 3:45 p.m. — Nov. 28 — Officers conducted a routine traffic stop on U.S. 322, on a vehicle driven by Hansley Caesar, 20, of Philadelphia. Officers could smell the odor of marijuana, upon approach of the vehicle. During a search, officers found a small amount of marijuana and Caesar was charged with possession of marijuana.

¯ Assault — 7:38 p.m. — Dec.1 — Officers were called to the Festival of Ice, in the area of the former Wilson’s Jewelry store for an assault.

Officers identified the juvenile victim who was able to identify his juvenile offender. The victim suffered a chipped tooth and a laceration to his lip. The offender admitted to hitting the victim three times before leaving the scene.

¯ Traffic crash — 8:44 p.m. — Dec. 1 — Police responded to a traffic crash at the intersection of East Water and South Brown streets.

An investigation revealed that Carol Bower, 72, of Lewistown, was turning onto East Water Street and cut the turn too tight hitting a parked pick-up truck that was on East Water Street. The truck was unoccupied at the time and no injuries were reported.

¯ Public drunkenness — 11:13 a.m. — Dec. 2 — Police were flagged down by a citizen and told about an intoxicated person outside the Dollar General Store, who was yelling at shoppers. The officer found Thomas Joiner, 60, Lewistown, outside the store and smelled the odor of alcohol. Joiner was arrested and charged with public drunkenness.

¯ Public intoxication — 2:48 p.m. — Dec. 2 — Joseph Clark, 63, of Lewistown, was found lying on the roadway at 137 Warren Alley. He was intoxicated to the point that he could not walk on his own. Clark was cited through Magisterial District Judge Jack Miller’s office.

¯ Public drunkenness — 7:59 p.m. — Dec. 2 — Officers were dispatched to the parking lot of the South Side Hoagie Shop for a report of a male falling over and stumbling. The male was identified as Daniel Bowersox, 57, of Lewistown. He was unable to stand on his own and had heavily slurred speech. Bowersox admitted to police that he had consumed three or four six-packs of beer. He was transported to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital for medical evaluation and charged with public drunkenness.

¯ Criminal mischief of automobiles — 9:41 p.m. — Dec. 2 — Police are investigating an incident of criminal mischief to an automobile along the 600 block of South Main Street. A black Chevrolet C10 pick-up truck had its driver side mirror damaged. It is not clear at this time if the damage was caused by a passing vehicle or a person on foot. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (717) 248-6716. Information will be confidential.

¯ Public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest — 1:54 p.m. — Dec. 3 — Officers were dispatched to a disorderly conduct in progress in the 100 block of Valley Street.

Officers found Tate Young, 22, of Lewistown, yelling obscenities at a family member on the sidewalk in front of their home. Tate was also discovered to be under the influence of alcohol. She attempted to resist, but was arrested and placed in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility. Tate is facing charges of public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

¯ Service of arrest warrant — 11:33 p.m. — Dec. 3 — Officers received a tip that John Short, 42, was at 21 McClintock Avenue, Apt. D.

He was known to officers as having a felony warrant for retail theft and was placed under arrest. Short was transported to the Mifflin County Correctional Facility.

¯ Warrant/possession of controlled substance — 7:04 p.m. — Dec. 4 — Police responded to the area of the Sheetz store to assist Mifflin County Probation.

On scene it was found that probation officers had encountered Jeremy Michael Taylor, 23, who had multiple active warrants, including one for absconding from Mifflin County Probation. When probation officers contacted Taylor, he threw two small bags and then fled on foot. Taylor was taken into custody after a foot chase and the bags were recovered and found to have crack cocaine in them. He was charged with flight to avoid apprehension, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance.

¯ Non-injury accident — 10 p.m. — Dec. 4 — Police responded to the area of 10 South Pine St., for a non-injury accident. Through the investigation it was found that Angela N. Freed, 35, was driving south on Pine Street and hit a parked vehicle along the right side of the road. The vehicle Freed was driving was towed from the scene and she was cited with operating an unregistered vehicle through Magisterial District Judge Jack Miller’s office.

¯ Accident, hit and run — 1:19 p.m. — Dec. 4 — Police are investigating a hit and run accident which occurred in front of the Downtown OIP, as a Westy’s Beer Distributing delivery truck was parked in front of the restaurant for a delivery.

Another unknown vehicle sideswiped the delivery truck and failed to stop to provide information. Anyone with information regarding this crash should call police at (717) 248-6716.

¯ Accident, hit and run — 4:22 p.m. — Dec. 5 — Police are investigating a hit and run accident in which a blue Subaru Legacy was parked on South Dorcas Street between South Plaza Drive and East Water Street, when another vehicle hit the driver’s side causing damage.

The hitting vehicle failed to stop and provide information. It would have damage to the passenger side. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (717) 248-6716.

¯ Public drunkenness — 10:03 p.m. — Dec. 6 — Officers responded to 133 South Main St., the Burger King, for an intoxicated female in the business causing problems.

On scene officers found Tracey Lynn Kelley, 37, who was discovered to be under the influence of a controlled substance to the degree she caused public annoyance and alarm. She was arrested and cited with public drunkenness through Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Reed’s office.

¯ Accident, hit and run — 9 p.m., Dec. 6-6:42 a.m., Dec. 7 — Police investigated a hit and run crash that occurred on the first block of Spring Street.

The vehicle which fled is a 2006 to 2011 white Toyota Avalon or Camry. It will have passenger side damage including the passenger side mirror with possible purple paint transfer. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (717) 248-6176.

¯ Traffic crash — 4:28 a.m. — Dec. 7 — Officers were dispatched to 44 N. Walnut Street for a hit and run crash where a tractor trailer had hit a street sign and porch of a residence.

Police were able to located the tractor trailer on North Grand Street after it had left the scene. The tractor trailer was operated by Darius Foote, 26, of South Carolina, who will receive charges in the mail for the traffic crash and no injuries were reported.

¯ Disorderly conduct, resisting arrest — 7:50 p.m. — Dec. 7 — Police were called to 127 Pannebaker Avenue, for a male subject yelling in that area.

As officers arrived on scene Osvaldo Rodriguez, 25, of Lewistown, yelling and he did not obey orders to stop yelling despite multiple orders from the officers. Rodriguez also failed to identify himself to police despite multiple requests. Officers attempted to place Rodriguez under arrest to which he resisted causing him to be Tasered before he could be subdued.

¯ False ID to law enforcement, trespass — 4:13 a.m. — Dec. 8 — Kainan Otis Cook was stopped in Rec Park after hours. During an investigation, Cook provided a false identification to officers. After his real identity was found out, he was found to have a warrant which he was placed under arrest for. Additionally he was charged with false identification to law enforcement and trespassing.

Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown

¯ Act 64/DUI — 8:37 p.m. — Nov. 24 — Todd William Wright, 57, of Yeagertown, was encountered during a traffic stop on South Main Street, east of Bills Hill Lane in Brown Township and was found to be in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Wright was also impaired while driving and related charges were filed through Magisterial District Judge Kent Smith’s office.

¯ DUI/Act 64 — 12:12 p.m. — Nov. 25 — It was discovered that a 48-year-old male from Mifflintown was driving under the influence and had marijuana/drug paraphernalia in his possession. Charges are pending.

¯ Burglary/theft — 9 p.m., Nov. 25-8 a.m., Nov. 26 — A investigation indicated that Yoders Garage, 195 W. Main St., Allensville, was broken into and multiple tobacco products were stolen, as well as damage having been done to the inside of the structure.

¯ Drug paraphernalia — 3:37 a.m. — Nov. 26 — Joseph Kincaid Shope, 31, of Cassville, was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia along Hill Top Lane in Wayne Township. Charges filed through Magisterial District Judge Jack Miller’s office.

¯ Theft — 8:24 p.m. — Nov. 29 — Troopers are investigating the theft of a wallet that contained a debit card and other miscellaneous cards from the Dollar General Store in Oliver Township.

Transactions were then made with the debit card at the Walmart in Huntingdon. Anyone with possible information is asked to call (717) 320-1010.

¯ Crash, other — 5:57 a.m. — Nov. 30 — This crash occurred as Hunter Rivera, 18, of Lewistown, was traveling north on US Highway 522, when a deer traveled across the road and into the path of this 2004 Nissan Altima.

Rivera attempted to swerve to avoid hitting the deer and lost control of his vehicle, which traveled of the road hitting a ditch. The vehicle continued to hit a tree, then spun counter-clockwise before coming to a final stop. Rivera was taken to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital for treatment of injuries.

¯ Furnishing drug-free urine — 12:15 p.m. — Nov. 30 — Gabriel Wert, 18, of Port Royal, used drug-free urine in an attempt to deceive the results of a drug test. Charges were filed through district court.

¯ Harassment, physical contact — 9 a.m. — Dec. 2 — The incident occurred as siblings, ages 68 and 56, argued over the care situation of their mother. Brother, 56, of Middleburg, grabbed the sister, 68, of Middleburg, by her wrist to obtain a cordless phone from her. No injuries occurred in the commission of this crime.

¯ Criminal mischief — 3:30-10:30 p.m. — Dec. 2 — Terry Hassinger, 43, of Milroy, reported having damage to one tire on his 2007 Hyundai Entourage, which occurred near a residence on Cabinet Drive, Armagh Township.

¯ Theft — 7 p.m. — Dec. 3 — Carol Lane, of McVeytown, reported to police that she had paid for a fictitious truck via eBay gift cards through an online sale. The investigation continues.

¯ Crash, other — 10:29 a.m. — Dec. 7 — Troopers responded to a two vehicle crash along US Highway 522 south near Furnace Road, McVeytown, after Vivian Bedlyon, 80, of McVeytown, attempted to enter onto US Highway 522 from North Water Street, and pulled in front of Steve Cushion, 62, of Tyrone.

Neither driver was injured when the vehicles collided. Bedlyon was charged with failure to stop and yield at appropriate signs.

¯ Crash, other — 6:09 p.m. — Dec. 8 — Sabrina Smith, 23, of Newton Hamilton, was traveling west on U.S. 522 near its intersection with Old 22 Road in Wayne Township, when she entered into the intersection attempting to negotiate a left-hand turn crossing the eastbound travel lanes.

Smith, in her 2010 Toyota Camery, traveled into the path of Araceli Leonard, 19, McVeytown, driving a 2015 Subaru BRZ. Smith came to a controlled stop in the eastbound lanes of travel and Leonard came to a final stop just east of the intersection. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and were uninjured.

¯ Criminal mischief — 10:13 p.m. — Dec. 8 — Troopers responded to 312 Orange St., Mifflintown, after Joel Swartz, 48, reported that unknown suspects threw eggs at his front door.

¯ Simple assault — 8 a.m. — Dec. 10 — A 43-year-old male and a 74-year-old male, both of Mount Union, were in a verbal argument at 20 High St. in Wayne Township.

During the argument the 43-year-old threw a piece of wood at the 74-year-old’s feet, causing him to fall and cut his nose. The 43-year-old was charged with simple assault.

¯ Bad checks/theft leased property — Nov. 10 — Troopers investigated a bad checks and theft of leased property incident which occurred at 747 Laurel Hill Road, Susquehanna Township.

During the investigation, Scotty Schubb, of Mount Pleasant Mills, failed to pay the proper amount after being issued a 10-day notice for issuance of a bad check. He was also allowed excavation to be conducted on the property while still owned by Carol and William Johnson, both of Mount Pleasant Mills. Charges were filed through Magisterial District Judge Barbara Lyter’s office.

¯ DUI — 10:05 p.m. — Nov. 11 — Wendy Straub, 42, of Mount Union, was involved in a crash on US Highway 522 south near East John Street, McVeytown, where alcohol was believed to be a factor.

Straub was taken to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital where charges were filed through Magisterial District Judge Jack Miller’s office.

¯ Theft — Nov. 28-Dec. 10 — Unknown suspects stole 50 ritalin pills from the unlocked vehicle owned by at 29-year-old from Armagh Township along Lockes Mill Road in Armagh Township.

¯ Theft — 4:20 p.m. — Dec. 6 — Steven Cisney, 47, of Port Royal, got $20 worth of gas from the Mexico Market, Mifflintown, and drove away without paying.

Mount Union Police Department

¯ Assault, sexual– 9:15 p.m. — Dec. 4 — Police investigated a report of sexual assault that occurred on East Water Street.

¯ Domestic, non-arrest — 5:10 a.m. — Dec. 5 — Police investigated a report of an active domestic disturbance at 108 W. Poplar St.

¯Assault, harassment/

stalking by communication — 10:15 p.m. — Dec. 5 — Police investigated a report of harassment at 112 W. Shirley St.

¯ Burglary — 11:16 p.m. — Dec. 5 — Police investigated a burglary at 101 Federal Drive, Apartment K-5.

¯ Theft — 7:29 a.m. — Dec. 9 — Police investigated a report of theft at 306 N. Jefferson St., Apartment A. Items taken were a television and sound bar.

Pennsylvania State Police Huntingdon

¯ Firearm violation– 5:21 p.m. — Dec. 6 — Mark David Drake, 46, of Mount Union, attempted to purchase a firearm while being the subject of an active protection from abuse order. Drake was taken into custody without incident and taken to the Huntingdon County Jail.

¯ Underage alcohol consumption — 1:30 a.m. — Dec. 10 — An 18-year-old from Mount Union was under the influence of alcohol while underage. He was charged with underage alcohol consumption.
