Thompsontown man facing sexual assault charges

THOMPSONTOWN — A 19-year-old man is facing sexual assault charges after he allegedly performed sex acts on a 14 year old.

Adam J. Swisher, of Thompsontown, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Barbara M. Lyter on Friday and is awaiting a preliminary hearing, scheduled for Nov. 22.

According to court documents, in the early morning hours of Oct. 22, state police transported a 14-year-old to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital from a Thompsontown Borough residence, the home of Swisher.

Court documents indicate that sex acts occurred between Swisher and the victim earlier that night.

The 14-year-old told police that alcoholic beverages were consumed on the night of the incident.

Swisher is being held in Mifflin County Correctional Facility on $50,000 cash bail, which holds a non-monetary condition that there is no contact.

Swisher is being charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors and indecent assault of a person less than 16 years of age.

A release of prisoner hearing is also scheduled for Nov. 22.
