Renovation plans moving forward

Notice of intent to award bids approved

YEAGERTOWN — The Derry Township Supervisors approved to give notice of intent to award three bids for the Mifflin County Regional Police Department renovations.

The renovations would be completed on the police portion of the municipal building. Intent to look into bids for HVAC, plumbing and fire suppression and electrical systems for that portion of the building were announced. The supervisors could only give notice of intent because the general contract award has yet to be awarded.

An executive session was held on Oct. 13 with township solicitor and special counsel to discuss possible legal action with original bids.

Also during the meeting the supervisors:

¯ Approved the 2018 Mifflin County Planning Services contract.

¯ Approved to donate to a scholarship for Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week.

¯ Voted to send a letter against a House Bill that would allow for alternative inspections agencies.

The Derry Township Supervisors meet at 5:30 p.m. the first and third Monday of each month at the township building.
