Pinning ceremony set for Vietnam veterans

Ceremony to be held at Oct. 19 meeting

LEWISTOWN – During a brief workshop meeting on Thursday, the Mifflin County Commissioners looked to reminded all Vietnam-era veterans of an upcoming pinning ceremony they plan to conduct next week.

Commissioner Kevin Kodish said the ceremony will take place at the beginning of the commissioners’ Oct. 19 business meeting in the second floor meeting room of the Mifflin County Courthouse.

“We’d like to remind Vietnam-era veterans to register for the ceremony no later than Monday, Oct. 16,” Kodish said. “They can do so at the veterans affairs office by calling (717) 248-6421. We’ve gotten a pretty good response as of right now and we hope to add more before next week.”

In other business Thursday, Kodish announced the following agenda items slated for the Oct. 19 business meeting:

¯ An application for 2017 Liquid Fuels allocation by Granville Township in the amount of $6,337.46.

¯ Approval to put the 2018 county budget on display beginning Oct. 27.

¯ Approval of the 2018 holiday schedules for employees of the courthouse, the Mifflin County Correctional facility and 911 emergency center.

¯ The promotion of Patricia Wilson from part-time secretary to full-time commissioner’s office liaison effective Oct. 23.

¯ The promotion of Casey O’Donnell from caseworker II to caseworker III in the Children & Youth office effective Oct. 23.
