MOUNT UNION — A 38-year-old man was incarcerated and denied bail after he allegedly sold counterfeit heroin to a confidential informant.

Jesse L. Hamman, of Mount Union was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Richard S. Wilt on Friday on three counts each of manufacturing with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility and six related charges.

According to court documents, Hamman allegedly set up three controlled buys with a confidential informant between July 5 and Aug. 29.

Documents indicate that Hamman told the informant he sold single bags for $20, multiple bags for $15 or a “bundle of heroin” for $140.

The first buy occurred on July 5. Court documents indicate that Hamman sold police a “bundle” for $140.

The second buy occurred on July 11. According to court documents, the confidential informant told Hamman they wanted “a bundle of heroin and a 50 piece of crack.” Documents indicate that Hamman sold the suspected heroin to the informant for $140 and said he “would work on getting the 50 piece.”

Hamman and the informant arranged a third buy on Aug. 29 where he was to provide $140 in heroin for the confidential informant. According to court documents, Hamman allegedly told the informant “it was really good dope.”

The suspected heroin was entered into evidence and sent to a lab for further analysis.

According to court documents, the lab results found the “heroin” from the first two buys was counterfeit and did not contain a controlled substance and the substance from the third buy was found to be cocaine.

Hamman is being housed in Huntingdon County Prison and is awaiting a preliminary hearing schedule for Oct. 25.

Bail was denied due to Hamman being a flight risk.
