Inmate charged with assaulting officer

LEWISTOWN –An inmate at the Mifflin County Correctional Facility is facing felony charges after he allegedly assaulted a correctional officer.

Jonathan A. Good, 25, of Lewistown, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Jack E. Miller on Monday.

He is being charged with felony aggravated assault and assault by prisoner.

According to court documents, on Oct. 14, correctional officers heard Good yelling from his cell block. When officers went to check on him, Good was yelling expletive at another inmate.

At this time, documents state that Good was asked to pack his belongings so he could be moved to the booking area.

Court documents indicate that Good refused multiple orders and began arguing. While officers attempted to put Good in handcuffs, the inmate jumped from his chair toward one of the officers. A physical altercation ensued and Good allegedly struck the officer on the head with his handcuffs.

Documents indicate that once other officers arrived, Good was placed into handcuffs and removed from the block.

The officer who was struck with the handcuffs sustained a laceration to the left side of his head that caused bleeding.

Good is was being held in Mifflin County Correctional Facility on other charges and is now being held in lieu of $50,000 cash bail on new charges.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 25.
