¯ Crash — 7 p.m. — Sept. 17 — Earnest Yoder and his wife, Katie, were on their way home from church in their horse and buggy, along state Route 655 near Metzlers, when they were hit from behind by a 2009 Chevrolet pick-up driven by Dylan Goss.

A witness, Leon Groth, was following behind and said they were within the speed limit when they came upon the buggy. Groth said Goss never slowed down before impact. The buggy went forward about 25 feet and Katie was through out of the buggy and Yoder to the side of the buggy. Katie was flown to Altoona Hospital for treatment of injuries and Yoder was taken to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital. Goss and his passenger, Aaron Goss, were not injured.

¯ Theft — July 1-Aug. 31 — The incident occurred as a 68-year-old from Mifflin stole a furnace motor and gas from a home along Berry Ridge Road, Lack Township, belonging to a 65-year-old from East Waterford.

¯ Agricultural vandalism — Aug. 1-Aug. 24 — Michael Vaul, 53, of Mifflin, destroyed corn crops belonging to a 48-year-old male from Mifflin, along state Route 35 in Beale Township.

¯ Theft from a motor vehicle — 4:30-5:30 a.m. — Aug. 12 — This incident occurred as the known suspect was walking on Terrace Boulevard, Juniata Terrace, and was attempting to gain entry to multiple vehicles.

The suspect was carrying a gym bag that he would place items into which he had taken from vehicles. The suspect fled the area hiding the gym bag containing the items, the bag was later found. All items within the gym bag and the bag have been entered into evidence at the police barracks.

¯ Harassment — 3:35 p.m. — Aug. 16 — The victim and accused, which police have withheld names, entered into a verbal dispute that turned physical at 747 Laurel Hill Road, Susquehanna Township. As a result the accused was charged with harassment and disorderly conduct through Magisterial District Judge Barbara Lyter’s office.

¯ DUI — 4:55 p.m. — Aug. 20 — A 34-year-old female was driving her vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance in Delaware Township.

¯ DUI — 6:28 a.m. — Aug. 26 — Tyler Best, 29, of Honey Grove, was found asleep in his running vehicle on North Street near Juniata Street in Mifflin Borough.

Best was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and subsequently placed under arrest. Charges for DUI were completed through Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline Leister’s office.

¯ Sexual assault — 1-1:30 p.m. — Aug. 27 — Troopers investigated a sexual assault which occurred between a 16-year-old male and 16-year-old female on Evandale Hill Road, Monroe Township.

Charges were filed on the 16-year-old through Juniata County Probation.

¯ DUI — 3:56 p.m. — Sept. 1 — Joe Nasewicz, 51, of McClure, was stopped for a traffic violation along US Highway 522 near County Line Road.

Subsequent an investigation indicated that Nasewicz was driving while under the influence of alcohol. Charges were filed through district court.

¯ Theft from a motor vehicle — Sept. 10, 9 p.m.-Sept. 11, 10 a.m. — Unknown suspects stole an RCA tablet from a vehicle along 179 Walls Road, Wayne Township, owned by Helen Parks, 57, of Mount Union.

¯ Harassment — 5 a.m. — Sept. 14 — Jodi Reed, 38, and John Beres, 41, both of Lewistown, got into an argument at 338 Terrace Boulevard, Juniata Terrace.

During the argument Beres and Reed both contact police on three separate occasions. Both started three arguments for no legitimate reason with each other. Non-traffic citations were filed through district court.

¯ Theft from a motor vehicle — Midnight- 3 a.m. — Sept. 15 — Troopers investigated multiple theft from motor vehicle incidents along William Penn Highway near the Midway Drive-in.

Multiple victims had various items stolen including a gas leaf blower, wallets and currency and a Heritage .22 LR revolver.

¯ DUI — 2:05 a.m. — Sept. 15 — Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Scott McClellan, 37, of Lewistown, for failing to travel in his lane and littering on the first block of South Juniata Street, Lewistown Borough.

An investigation indicated that McClellan was driving while under the influence of alcohol. Charges are pending the results of a legal blood draw.

¯ Crash, other — 5:41 a.m. — Sept. 15 — Chelsea McNaughton, 27, of Thompsontown, was traveling west on state Route 235 and a deer entered the road.

McNaughton hit the deer and lost control of her 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, hitting an embankment and overturning. She suffered minor injuries.

¯ Theft — 1-2:30 p.m. — Sept. 16 — A Maryland license plate as reported stolen from a jet ski trailer in Brown Township. It was discovered missing at the Sheetz in Reedsville.

There are no leads at this time.

¯ DUI/ drug paraphernalia — 1 p.m. — Sept. 17 — Troopers stopped Darryl Woodward, who was driving west on state Route 322, Walker Township, for a traffic violation.

During the traffic stop, Woodward was determined to be driving under the influence. In addition, he was seen to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and related paraphernalia.

¯ Found item — Sept. 18 — A large tool box was brought to Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown barracks.

The finder said it fell from a semi-truck. To be claimed items in the box must be identified. Call (717) 320-1010 to identify and reference incident PA17-1008705.

¯ Simple assault — 11:40 a.m. — Sept. 18 — Troopers investigated a domestic incident at 7226 Seven Stars Road, Greenwood Township.

The investigation indicated that Joshua Russell Varner, 29, of Thompsontown, threatened and caused minor physical injury to a 25-year-old female during a fight.

Varner was taken into custody on simple assault and other summary charges. He was arraigned and taken to Mifflin County Correctional Facility.

¯ Crash, other — 12:06 p.m. — Sept. 6 — Dylon Sheets, 25, of Beavertown, was driving north through the McDonald’s parking lot in Shamokin Dam.

Sheets was moving up into the drive-through lane and hit Jessica Mull, 42, of Sunbury, who was crossing the parking lot.

Mull suffered minor injuries and Sheets and his passenger, Jacquelyn Weaver, 25, of Mount Pleasant Mills, were not injured.
