Making a difference

Thank you to all who helped with Day of Caring

The annual United Way Day of Caring took place Wednesday across the Juniata Valley.

The day is set aside annually for area organizations and businesses to pitch in a helping hand to make the local community a better place for us all — and this year did not disappoint.

Teams were scattered all over the area Wednesday doing such things as sprucing up the McVeytown boat launch (where a team of Sentinel employees was assigned), giving a fresh paint job to the bleachers at Armagh Field in Milroy to cleaning up the outside of the Juniata Agape Ministries home in Mifflintown, and many other projects.

It’s a heartwarming scene to see so many out making a real difference.

We’d like to take the time to applaud everyone who pitched in Wednesday.

We’d also like to thank the United Way of Mifflin-Juniata for figuring out where the most good can be done and making sure the willing volunteers are sent there. Without your organization, Day of Caring wouldn’t be possible.

We hope that the experience was a positive one for all involved and that next year’s Day of Caring is even bigger and better.

And for those who didn’t have a chance to volunteer Wednesday, the United Way is always looking for those who want to help.
