Police department name active chief

After one year, Lusk to retire from LPD

LEWISTOWN — As of Thursday the Lewistown Borough Police Department has an active chief.

According to a press release from the Borough of Lewistown, LPD Chief Jeff Lusk will be retiring as of July 28. In his place, the acting chief will be Dave Clemons.

“We thank [Jeff] for his service to the tax payers and residents of the borough,” Borough Manager Scott Welham said in the press release.

According to the release, Clemons brings 25 years of service with the Pennsylvania State Police to the job and retired from PSP in November 2016. During is career, Clemons spent 10 years with the criminal investigation unit at the PSP Lewistown barracks, with the last years being a criminal investigation assessment officer. At this time his duties were assisting all parts of investigations mostly homicides, unclear deaths, kidnappings and sexual assaults, according to the release.

“We are happy to have [Dave] taking this position and wish [Jeff] the best,” Welham said.

Clemons is a graduate of Penn State University with a bachelor of science degree in psychology and is a graduate from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy.

Welham said Clemons will serve as acting police chief until he and the borough are happy.

Late Wednesday night the announcement was made to the police department. Mayor Deborah Bargo could not be reached for additional comment.
