Crews dowse fire

Emergency crews work to find and extinguish a silo fire, Thursday afternoon, at 816 Kansas Road, McVeytown. Chief Barry Sunderland was in charge of the scene and used a ladder truck to vent the silo that was full of hay-silage. According to reports on scene, the silage was just placed in the silo within the last two days. Crews vented through the top of the silo and waited for a representative from Penn State University before putting water into the silo. Fire departments on the scene included McVeytown, West Granville, Granville, Newton-Wayne and Mount Union. No further information on the fire was available as of press time Thursday night.
