Mifflin County Assessment and Tax Claim Bureau plan to merge

First of planned meetings to inform about departments

LEWISTOWN — At a public information meeting put on by the Mifflin County Commissioners, Commissioner Steve Dunkle announced the County Assessment and Tax Claim Bureau would be merging.

The merger will be final sometime this summer.

Dunkle said the Tax Claim Bureau and Mifflin County Assessment and Geographic Information Systems offices work together closely.

Director of the Tax Claim Bureau and Voter Registration Harry Clever said this was the first of a number of planned meetings for the public to attend and learn about the functions of the various county departments.

In addition to Clever speaking about the Tax Claim Bureau, Mifflin County Chief Assessor Merry Bratton and Director of Mifflin County GIS Laura Simonetti spoke about their respective roles in the county.
