Lisa Nancollas resigns as Mifflin County Commissioner
Kevin Kodish takes over as board chairman
LEWISTOWN — In a stunning development Thursday, Mifflin County Commissioner Lisa Nancollas resigned her position following a vote to reorganize the board and name Commissioner Kevin Kodish as board chairman for the remainder of 2017. Prior to her announcement, Commissioner Stephen Dunkle, a Republican, read a statement noting that the county board of commissioners has always tried to be non-partisan as evidenced in two instances when he yielded the chairman’s chair to Kodish, a Democrat, in Nancollas’ absence. It was then that he placed Kodish’s name in nomination for the chairman slot.
Following a vote to accept the motion, Nancollas said, “I don’t know if this is about me or not. This is the best day of my life. I’m sorry Mifflin County, I resign. I’m so sorry. If you two can, please nominate Mark Sunderland to take my place because he was the next highest vote-getter. Thank you Mifflin County. I want to go back to my dogs, my cats, my mother and my husband.”
