Derry Township Supervisors select supplier for bid

Township picks Snedeker Energy as oil, fuel provider

YEAGERTOWN — The Derry Township Supervisors awarded the bids for heating oil and off-road diesel fuel during a Monday evening meeting.

At the March 6 meeting, the supervisors tabled the awarding of the bids until the township manager and roadmaster had an opportunity to review the bids.

During the Monday evening meeting, it was recommended to choose the supplier based off of the mark-up price of the fuel, which is a constantly changing price. Township Manager Kelly Shutes recommended awarding the bid to Snedeker Energy, which submitted a proposal with a .24 cents mark-up price.

The recommendation was approved and Snedeker Energy was awarded the bid.

Also during the meeting the supervisors:

¯ Tabled the awarding of paving project bid openings until further review.

¯ Accepted the lease agreement with the Mifflin County Babe Ruth League.

¯ Approved the lease agreement with the Little Mingoes Juniata Valley Football League team, contingent upon receipt of letter stating the team is a sanctioned part of the JVFL.

¯ Instructed Shutes to send Comcast and the channel WTAJ a letter explaining the loss of the station locally on Comcast.

The Derry Township Board of Supervisors meets at 5:30 p.m. the first and third Monday of each month at the Derry Township municipal building.
