Supervisors open, award bids for oil, road materials

Brown Township keeps supplier, accepts truck

REEDSVILLE — Bids for heating oil, gasoline and road materials were opened and subsequently awarded during a Monday night meeting of the Brown Township Supervisors.

The supervisors had two companies bid to supply the township with heating oil, diesel and unleaded gasoline. The companies were Snedeker Energy and Nittany Energy. After hearing the total costs, the supervisors voted to keep their current supplier, Snedeker Energy, at a cost of $23,416.

Glen O. Hawbaker was the only company to bid for road materials and the supervisors accepted its bid.

During the meeting, the supervisors also opened bids for a 2006 or newer GMC Kodiak truck or an equivalent truck. Again, only one dealership put in a bid — the local Lake Ford dealership.

Lake Ford was offering $10,000 for the truck, which also included the trade-in value of the current Chevrolet T-Tag vehicle owned by the township.

The supervisors accepted the offer from Lake Ford.

The supervisors also:

¯Signed a proposal from Boyer and Ritter for auditing services on the township sewer fund.

¯Approved the final sidewalk plan for Main Street, Reedsville.

¯Adopted a resolution to approve a 2017 Department of Conservation and Natural Resources grant for improvements at the park.

The Brown Township Supervisors meet at 7 p.m. the first and third Monday of each month at the Brown Township building.
