From staff reports

LEWISTOWN — A 79-year-old man was struck by a vehicle pulling out of a parking lot Friday morning in Lewistown, according to a report issued by the Lewistown Police Department.

Police said officers responded to the area of South Pine Road near Montgomery Avenue to a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle. Officers discovered a 79-year-old elderly male had been struck by a vehicle pulling out of the Mifflin County Housing Authority.

Police said through the investigation, it was determined that a vehicle driven by a 65-year-old female was backing out of the Mifflin County Housing Authority parking lot. The male had walked behind her vehicle while she was still parked and stopped to adjust some items he was carrying, the release states.

According to the release, an officer located the female in her vehicle a short time later and questioned her about the incident.

Police said no charges are expected to be filed.

Officers assisted Fame EMS in providing treatment to the victim, who was transported to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital for further treatment, the release states.
