District hosts job fair
MIFFLINTOWN — There are jobs available in Juniata County if you know where to look.
Employees in the education sector held a job fair Thursday evening at Fermanagh-Mifflintown Elementary School for students and adults seeking employment.
Among the employers were Tuscarora Intermediate Unit 11, Substitute Teacher Service, Juniata County Head Start, the Mifflin County Academy of Science and Technology, Rohrer, PA CareerLink, Metz Culinary Management and substitute registered and licensed practical nurses.
Sherri Reichenbach, an 11th grade student from Mifflintown, attended the fair to gather information about working with young children. She is a student at the academy and said she feels well prepared to begin job hunting.
Reichenbach said when she originally heard about the academy, the information she received was not all positive. Despite mixed feedback, she decided to check it out for herself and says the early childhood program is “actually pretty amazing.”
Reichenbach said she has “learned so much” and is on track to earn her child development associate credential during her senior year of high school.
Tanner Nipple, a 10th grade student from Mifflintown, said he, too, has always enjoyed working with young children and attended the event to gather more information about jobs available in the area.
Classmate Morgan Baines, of Mifflintown, also attended the fair. She is in 11th grade and is most interested in working with Juniata County Head Start.
She also learned about
others in similar career fields.
