¯7th annual 5K wellness walk/run — registration starts at 7:45 a.m., race begins at 9 a.m., April 8, starts and ends at Cedar Grove Church, Mifflintown. If registered by March 24, entry fees are reduced from $20 to $17 for adults and from $15 to $12 for students. All early-bird registrants will be guaranteed an event T-shirt and goodie bag; limited quantities will be available on race day. ¯Paint party — 5-8 p.m., March 25, Country Village Restaurant and Lounge, Yeagertown. Artist: Jessica Yetter. Window box painting. Supports Big Brothers Big Sisters of Juniata Valley. ¯Potato candy sale — pickup from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m., March 25, Reedsville UMC, 60 E. Logan St., Reedsville. Cost: $5 per pound, comes in springtime decor boxes. To place an order, call 250-1626 or 667-3778 and leave a message with name, phone number and number of boxes needed by March 23. Walk-ins welcome on a first-come, first-serve basis.

¯Annual Longaberger basket/Vera Bradley bingo– doors open at noon, games at 1 p.m., March 26, Burnham Lions Club. There will be extra games available, a raffle table and a full concession stand. ¯Free senior citizens’ spring luncheon — 1 p.m., April 11, East Juniata High School cafeteria, 32944 Route 35, McAlisterville. Meal served by EJHS students. Musical entertainment and art on display, student-led tours of the school, opportunity to meet faculty, staff, administrators and board members. ¯Painting party — 6 p.m., April 4, Walker Grange, Mexico, Pa. There will be door prizes and lots of dairy delicious refreshments. Sign-ups are required, only 40 seats available. ¯Beginner sign language course — from 4-5 p.m., starting April 6 and running through April 27, Mifflin-Juniata Special Needs Center Inc., 31 S. Dorcas St., Lewistown. ¯The Senior Gathering — 9:30-11:30 a.m., Faith United Methodist Church, Main Street, East Waterford. The gathering will be filled with fun, activities, guest speakers and snacks. ¯Early Childhood and Education Career Fair — 4-6 p.m., Fermanagh Elementary School. This event is open to the public. Several local employers will be present to provide information about career opportunities working with children. Attendees are encouraged to provide several copies of their resume.

¯Indian Valley Elementary Center 4th Annual Talent Show — 6 p.m., in the school auditorium.

¯Coffee with friends — 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Lack Tuscarora EMS, East Waterford. For seniors, no cost. There will be crafts, exercise, speakers and Bible study, with light lunch provided.

¯All-you-can-eat lenten fish dinner — 4-7 p.m., St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 3918 William Penn Highway, Mifflintown, in the church social hall. Menu: fried and baked fish, popcorn shrimp, fried clams, french fries, macaroni and cheese, stewed tomatoes, corn, green beans, coleslaw, applesauce, rolls, puddings and a selection of homemade desserts. Cost: $12, adults; $6, children ages 6-12; free, children 5 and younger.

¯Open House and Chicken & Waffles Dinner — from 5-7 p.m. at Belleville Mennonite School for prospective families to explore all the school has to offer. Teachers will be in their classrooms to answer questions, tours will be available, and a Kindergarten Bear Hunt event specifically for interested incoming kindergarteners will take place. The cost for the meal is as follows: Ages 0-5, free; ages 6 and up, $9 and for families with four or more members the price is $35. The price for prospective new families is $2/person. The dinner is open to the public. No advance ticket purchase necessary.

Saturday, March 25

¯ Indoor Yard Sale — 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Holy Communion Lutheran Church Main Street Yeagertown.

¯Soup, bake and rummage sale — 8 a.m.-2 p.m., St. Paul’s (Erdley’s) Lutheran Church, 2337 Erdley Church Road, Smalsh-Barrick and Erdley Church roads, Middleburg (Smithville). Cost: $2 per bag of clothing, from 1-2 p.m. Soups: beef vegetable, ham and bean, and chicken corn. Also, homemade baked goods. Lots of clothes (all sizes), household items, craft items, toys and books.

¯Free community breakfast — 8:30-10 a.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church, 428 S. Main St. Lewistown. All are welcome and guests are asked to use the church’s rear entrance.

¯Juniata High School Class of 1966 lunch — 11:30 a.m., at Burnham OIP.

¯Bag day — 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Lewistown Shelter Thrift Store. Cost: $5 per bag, clothing only; $8, name brand clothing.

¯Ham shoot — kitchen opens 2 p.m., shoot at 3 p.m., Richfield Sportsmans Club. 12, 16, 20 gauge shells provided. Rain date, March 26. Sponsored by Richfield Sportsmans Club.

¯Pork and kraut meal — 4-6 p.m., McVeytown United Methodist Church, the tan church on Queen Street. Cost: eat-in, $9; takeout, $10. Visit the McVeytown United Methodist Facebook page for updates.

¯Chicken pie dinner — 4 p.m., Granville Methodist Church. Cost is $8 per meal, and takeouts are available.

¯Dancing — 7-10 p.m., Shermanata Grange Hall, three miles west of Duncannon, Route 274/New Bloomfield Road. Square dancing, round, line, and polka with music by the Common Ground Band. Caller: Larry Snook. Food and drinks available. For more information, call Don Conrad at 834-4324.

¯Brick Saturday — 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Mifflin County Library, Lewistown, and Kish Branch Library, Belleville. Kids of all ages can come and play with Legos provided by the library.
