Mifflin, Juniata counties under winter storm warning

STATE COLLEGE –The National Weather Service in State College has issued a winter storm warning for the Juniata Valley.

The warning will last from 10 p.m. until 10 a.m. Thursday, and the advisory is no longer in effect.

According to the National Weather Service the heaviest snow will be from midnight into the predawn hours at rates close to one to two inches per hours. The heaviest of the snow is expected to end by day break, tapering off by mid-morning.

Snow accumulations could be between 5 to 7 inches.

The National Weather Service is expecting snow covered roads and longer commute times in the morning.

The warning is for Centre, Blair, Huntingdon, Mifflin, Juniata, Sullivan, Clinton, Lycoming, Union, Snyder, Montour, Northumberland and Columbia counties. It includes the cities of State College, Altoona, Huntingdon, Mount Union, Lewistown, Mifflintown, Laporte, Lock Haven, Williamsport, Lewisburg, Selinsgrove, Danville, Sunbury, Shamokin, Bloomsburg and Berwick.
