Man killed in accident identified

Emergency vehicles and crews work to rescue a person trapped under a tree Tuesday night along the 400 block of Middle Road, in Granville Township. According to scanner reports, the person who was trapped was reported dead at the scene. No further information was available as of press time Tuesday night.

LEWISTOWN — The man killed by a tree Tuesday in Granville Township has been identified.

According to a release from Dan Lynch, Mifflin County coroner, Lynch responded around 6 p.m. to 600A Middle Road, in West Granville, and pronounced Robert L. Ford dead at the scene.

According to the release, Ford was killed while attempting to remove fallen trees on his property. One of the trees bucked and came over the front of the tractor, pinning Ford in the seat.

According to the release, the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the abdomen.

The coroner’s office was assisted by West Granville Fire Co., Fame EMS, Granville Township Police and Granville Township Fire Police.
