Thanksgiving meals to be distributed Nov. 19

MIFFLINTOWN — The Kiwanis Club of Juniata County, Juniata County Food Pantry, Boy Scouts and Key Clubs are joining forces to bring Thanksgiving meals to local families in need.

All groceries necessary to cook a Thanksgiving dinner will be distributed from 10 a.m. to noon on Nov. 19, at the CJEMS Building/Senior Center, on Route 35 north of Mifflintown.

To qualify for the Thanksgiving distribution, attendees must present a current photo ID.  In addition, any family that is not a current customer of the Juniata County Food Pantry, within the past six months, must provide the following: proof of need, an access card or signed and dated letter from a church or other service organization, proof of Juniata County residency, a current photo ID with a Juniata County address or recent piece of mail with name and address.

If the meal is being picked up for someone else, attendees must have a note that is signed and dated by the recipient, allowing the attendee to pickup the meal for them, as well as the required proof listed above.

The Pantry is also taking donations of turkeys, stuffing, canned fruits, canned sweet potatoes and dessert mixes. Monetary and gift card donations are also appreciated.
