Richfield getting ready for Christmas in the Park

RICHFIELD–The Richfield Lions Club will sponsor the 15th annual Christmas in the Park from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 26, at Basom Park.

Basom Park’s entrance will be lined with lollipops and the park will be decorated, ready to begin the holiday season.

Holiday craft vendors will fill the park with a large selection of gifts and crafts for sale, including a wide variety of wooden items, handmade baskets, primitive furniture, candles, fresh cut wreaths, handmade scarves, hats, purses, jewelry and more.

Special this year is a display of electric trains that will run under a Christmas tree for all to enjoy.

The Lions Club will have hot sausage sandwiches, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, ham and bean soup and pizza available at the event. Other food vendors will offer chicken sandwiches, vegetable and corn soup, chicken salad sandwiches on pretzel rolls, fish sandwiches, french fries, pulled pork sandwiches and hot dogs.

Barbecue chicken and ribs will be made by Lenninger’s Lutheran Church. Middlecreek Antique Association will make their homemade potato chips and Mr. Sticky will bake sticky buns. Kettle corn, rice pudding and a large selection of baked goods will also be available, while Ickesburg Lions Club will be on hand to make their funnel cakes.

Santa will arrive at noon on the Richfield fire truck and will hand out treats to the children. Mrs. Claus will help Santa. Attendees will have the opportunity to have their picture taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Strolling characters will be seen throughout the day, talking to everyone.

Entertainment this year will include musical students from Juniata Mennonite School at 9 a.m.; a Special Musical Christmas Holiday Celebration by husband and wife team, Dan and Galla, at 10 a.m; East Juniata Junior Chorus will be on stage at 1:30 p.m; and the senior chorus will feature their Christmas Cantata at 2 p.m., under the direction of Kevin Milliken.

The special show by Dan and Galla is an interactive Christmas show that captures the joy of the holidays, and is sponsored by Juniata Valley Bank.

Attendees can also enjoy an old-fashioned horse and carriage ride around the park.
