Goodling to celebrate 25th ministry anniversary

RICHFIELD — Jeremy Goodling is celebrating his 25th year of ministry this year with a concert at 7 p.m. Sunday at Niemond’s Independent Church, Richfield.

The evening will feature Goodling’s solos of Southern Gospel, light contemporary and hymns. The second half of the evening will feature his four daughters, The Goodling Girls, and a Gaither-style choir with many of his family members and singing friends as well as a live band.

A love offering will be taken.

Patriotic service for

veterans planned

MIFFLINTOWN — The First Baptist Church of Juniata County, located on state Route 35,  one mile north of Mifflintown, will conduct its annual patriotic service honoring the military at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

The guest speaker will be Chaplain (Maj.)  Gary R. Rhodes, USAR, with music by Chiz Rider. Rider is a nationally known trumpeter.

All veterans will be honored.

Friends of Isreal

conference set

PORT ROYAL — Faith Bible Church will be hosting a Friends of Isreal Weekend Conference from Nov. 18-20, at the church in Port Royal.

The guest speaker will be Tom Simcox, from the Friends of Isreal Ministry in Bellmawr, N.J. The theme of the conference is “Sense and Nonsense about Israel.”

The conference starts at 7 p.m. Friday with services, followed by dessert. The Saturday service will start at 6 p.m. and Sunday begins at 9 a.m. with an information hour regarding the ministry of Friends of Israel and a service at 10:15 a.m. and a service at 6 p.m.

Pine Glen Church to host ‘Nativity Play’

LEWISTOWN — Sunday morning Nov. 20 at 9:30 a.m., during the regular church service at the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren, a “Nativity Play” will celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

It will be a service to celebrate traditions, to reenact the Bible story of Jesus’ birth, and to listen and sing music for the Christmas season. Following the service everyone is invited to a luncheon in the fellowship hall.

Sacred Heart holds adult Bible study

LEWISTOWN — Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Lewistown, is holding an adult Bible study on  God’s mercy at 7 p.m. every Tuesday until Nov. 22.

The classes are held at 9 N. Brown St., Lewistown.

Philippians Alpha Course hosted by church

PORT ROYAL — Port Royal UMC will host an Alpha Course through Thanksgiving Eve. There will be a course at noon with lunch and a hymn sing. Another course will take place at 6:30 p.m., with dinner and contemporary singing.

Each course will include a talk on Philippians, and small table conversations.

REEDSVILLE — Nativity scenes will be on display at the Church Hill United Methodist Church, Reedsville, from 4 to 6 p.m.

PORT ROYAL — Join the Port Royal UMC at 6 p.m. on Dec. 11 to walk around town singing Christmas carols.

After singing hot chocolate and cookies will be served.

REEDSVILLE — Join the Reedsville United Methodist Church at 4 p.m. Dec. 11 for Christmas caroling around town.

Afterward meet at the church for hot chocolate and cookies.

Christmas Cantata set for Dec. 18 at Port Royal UMC

PORT ROYAL — During the 10:45 a.m. service on Dec. 18, the Port Royal UMC will have the “Spirit of Christmas” cantata.

GriefShare recovery

seminar slated

LEWISTOWN — GriefShare grief recovery seminar and support group will meet at Pine Glen CMA Church in Lewistown from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. through Dec. 22  The church is located at 1058 state Route 103 North, Lewistown.

GriefShare features nationally recognized experts on grief recovery topics. Seminar sessions include, “Is this Normal,” “The Challenges of Grief,” “Grief and Your Relationships,” “Why?” and “Guilt and Anger.”

Churches present Galatians Sunday study series

PORT ROYAL — Port Royal UMC and Matamoras UMC will present a new Bible study series on Galatians until Christmas.

Galatians is a “fight song” themed book, about the gospel. It is a strong affirmation of liberty based on grace. It is a bold attack on legalism based on works. Services begin with a contemporary worship service at Port Royal UMC at 8:30 a.m., a traditional service at Matamoras UMC at 9:30 a.m., and a traditional service at Port Royal UMC 10:45 a.m.
