Pageant looking for local contestants
LEWISTOWN–Organizers of the Miss Central Pennsylvania Scholarship Pageant and Miss Central Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen Pageant have announced their desire to once again send a local contestant to the Miss Pennsylvania Pageant.
To be eligible for the title of Miss Freedom Forge, contestants are required to reside, attend school or work in Mifflin, Juniata, Snyder, Centre, Huntingdon or Union counties.
At this time, contestant applications are being accepted for the 2017 pageants which will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at the Mifflin County Middle School, located on Manor Drive in Lewistown.
The Miss Central Pennsylvania and Miss Central Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen pageants are preliminaries to the Miss Pennsylvania and Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen pageants, both of which will be held in June 2017 in Pittsburgh.
The winners there will advance to the Miss America Pageant and Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant, respectively.
To be eligible to compete in the “Miss” pageant, which leads to the Miss America Pageant, young women must be unmarried and between the ages of 17 and 24, and must reside, attend school or be employed in Pennsylvania. Additionally, contestants must be at least in their senior year of high school.
“Miss” contestants are judged in Talent, Interview, Evening Wear, On-Stage Question and Lifestyle and Fitness in Swimsuit. The entry deadline is Dec. 27, 2016. No more than 26 contestants will be accepted for the combined pageants, so those whose entry materials are received first will be named as contestants. Those whose application materials are received after the first 26 will be placed on a waiting list.
The only fee for entry into the pageant is the $100 that each “Miss” contestant is required to raise for the Children’s Miracle Network.
The money will then be deposited into a special online account. Details are available on the pageant website at www.misscentralpa.org.
To be eligible to compete in the Miss Central Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen Pageant, which leads to the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant, girls must be between the ages of 12 and 17 and reside or attend school in Pennsylvania. Contestants may be no more than high school juniors. Full details on age and grade requirements should be verified by contacting Executive Director John Metzger at 248-5576.
“Teen” contestants are judged in Talent, Interview, Evening Wear and On-Stage Question and Lifestyle and Fitness in Active Wear.
The entry fee into the Teen Pageant is $100 with discounts available for contestants who also enter the Miss MidState’s Outstanding Teen Pageant. The entry deadline for Teen contestants is also Dec. 27, 2016.
