Organization seeks donations

Andrew Willard, left, and Julian Jackson, both members of the Mifflin County High School Key Club, sort through bags of new books Monday at the Santa’s Bookbag program at Grace United Methodist Church. This is the 25th year for the program, which provides at least four to five gently used books and one new book to children in need. This year so far, 450 children will be given books this Christmas. The Salvation Army provides the names of the children who need books and if a child requests a certain title or type of book, the program makes its best effort to fulfill that request. Students from MCHS’ Key Club and National Honor Society and members of the Mifflin County Chapter of Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, help each year to sort and clean the books. Monetary donations are needed to purchase new books for next year’s program. Send donations to The
Sentinel, 352 Sixth St.,
Lewistown, PA 17044.
