MCHS marching band finishes season

HERSHEY — The Mifflin County High School Marching Band finished its competitive season with a performance on Sunday, at the Tournament of Bands, Group 3-Open Class, Atlantic Coast Championships at Hershey Park Stadium.

Bands from six states competed in Sunday’s competition: Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.

The overall Group 3-Open Class results were: first place, Brick Memorial High School from Brick, New Jersey, 98.10; second place, Eastern Regional High School from Voorhees, New Jersey, 98.05; and third place, Liberty High School from Clarksburg, West Virginia, 97.50, according to a press release.

The four bands from TOB Susquehanna Valley Region 4 results were: fifth place, Williamsport, 94.60; 19th place, Mifflin County, 85.20; 20th place, Berwick, 84.70; 21st place, Bloomsburg, 83.75, according to the release.

“The band had a great weekend,” MCHS Band Director Art Belfiore said in a press release. “The band had one of their best performances of the season at half time, and the Waynesboro fans really appreciated our band’s performance, especially the exploding Death Star.”

The MCHS Band Staff will reveal the 2017 show concept to the students during the MCHS Marching Band movie night on Dec. 9.
