¯10th annual free Thanksgiving meal — 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Nov. 24, Beaver Lutheran Church, located on Route 522 between Beaver Springs and Beavertown. Takeouts available, transportation or delivery is available for area shut-ins in the western Snyder County areas of Beavertown, Beaver Springs, Troxelville and McClure by calling the church. ¯Soup and sandwich lunch–11 a.m.-1 p.m., Dec. 2, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 21 S. Main St., Lewistown. Cost: $7 per lunch. There will be multiple choices of soups and sandwiches, beverages will be provided. To order advanced tickets, call 248-9903. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.

¯Driver safety class–Noon-4 p.m., Dec. 5 and 6, the basement of the Valley View Retirement Center Chapel, Belleville. For persons age 55 and older. Instructor: Nancy Simmons. The course will include class discussion, driver safety reminders, updates and humor. Cost of registration: $20 per person; $15 for AARP members. Bring a membership card and driver’s license. ¯Penns Valley Community annual Thanksgiving service–7 p.m., Faith Alive Fellowship, 4394 Penns Valley Road, Spring Mills. Pastors from the Penns Valley area will be participating. Those who would like to sing in the community choir are asked to arrive at 6:30 p.m. for practice. Refreshments will follow the service. A collection will be taken for the Penns Valley Hope Fund.
