The Sentinel launches redesigned website

Faster, mobile-friendly look offers numerous updated features

LEWISTOWN — Readers of The Sentinel’s online edition will definitely see a difference when they log on through their computers and digital devices today.

The Sentinel’s redesigned website is faster, mobile-friendly and has a cleaner design that’s easier to navigate. The site launches today and can be found online at lewistownsentinel.com.

“For more than 110 years, our newspaper has been the leading source of news and information for the Juniata Valley, both in print and, more recently, online,” said Ruth Eddy, publisher of The Sentinel. “Our redesigned website  — through increased speed, functionality and a more responsive design — allows us to continue to lead the way in local news in the region. We are very excited with the end product, and believe it will serve the needs of our online readers.”

One of the new website’s key features is what’s known as “responsive design,” meaning it provides the same look, feel and functionality to users regardless of the device being used. It does so by automatically scaling and adjusting to fit any screen.

“We are very pleased with the new look for our website, and believe users will find it more user-friendly,” Eddy said. “That was the focus of the redesign, and we know the result offers the most comprehensive online report of the Juniata Valley available anywhere.”

Eddy said the new site offers even better opportunities for local advertisers to reach the ever-growing digital audience. The site also features a revamped Virtual Newsroom, making it easier for readers to submit photos, story ideas and other items for the newspaper.

Other updated features include a redesigned Garage Sale feature that is mobile-friendly; a faster news content delivery system; and links to the most read stories of the day and the latest stories that have been posted.

Readers also can, on the home page, sign up for the Daily Newsletter, which delivers the day’s top news and sports stories to their email each morning.
