50th season opens Nov. 5

LEWISTOWN – A group of strangers is stranded in a boarding house during a snowstorm, and one is a murderer.

The suspects include the newly married couple who run the house, a spinster with a curious background, an architect better equipped to be a chef, a retired Army major, a strange little man whose car has overturned in a drift, and a jurist who makes everyone miserable.

Written by Agatha Christie, the foremost mystery writer of her time, “The Mousetrap” stars Jared Bassette, Matt Briner, Abby Cramer, Tom Craver, William Daniel Daup, Colette Hartzler, Linda Swartz and Edward Thome. It is directed by Thiry Olbrich.

“The Mousetrap” was also produced by SAP in March 1975.

The show began its life as a short radio play in May 1947. The play is based on a short story based on the radio play, but Christie asked that the story not be published as long as the show ran in London.

“The Mousetrap” premiered in the West End on Oct. 6, 1952, and celebrated its 25,000 performance on Nov. 18, 2012.

Show dates are Nov. 5-6, 11-13 and 18-20. Friday and Saturday show times are 8 p.m., and Sunday show times are 2 p.m. at the Theatre in the Park at Kish Park.

Opening night for all regular season productions is now Saturday. A third Sunday show has been added to the opening weekend. There will be no Friday performance on opening weekend.

Tickets are $10 for reserved seating, and go on sale to the general public on Oct. 31.

Reserve tickets by calling 248-2224 during box office hours between 7 and 9 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Email requests for tickets may be sent any time to tickets4SAP@gmail.com. Email requests are honored on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are highly recommended.

All tickets will be available for pick-up at the box office on the night of the reservation. On show nights, the box office opens at 6 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and at noon on Sundays.

Theatre-goers are reminded to be at the theatre no later than 15 minutes before the advertised start of the show. Late arrivals will be seated at the discretion of the house staff.

Anyone who has made reservations and is unable to attend should call the box office as soon as possible to cancel, so the seats can be resold. A complete copy of the ticket policy can be found in every edition of the SAP playbill at each show.
