Westbound lanes set to open

From staff reports

LEWISTOWN – PennDOT will open the westbound lanes of U.S. 22/322 Thursday morning, in the Lewistown area, as bridge rehabilitation work continues. The entire work zone stretches from the U.S. 522 interchange to the Business 22 interchange, east of Lewistown. The opening of the westbound lanes is dependent on weather and expected to occur before noon on Thursday.

Eastbound travel will continue to be restricted to one lane through late August. Eastbound drivers will encounter changing lane patterns, daylight lane restrictions and signage until work is completed.

Work includes repairs and rehabilitation on five bridges, along with the installation of a permanent message board on westbound U.S. 22/322.

Rehabilitation and repair work has included concrete and deck repairs, painting, drainage improvements, guide rail updates, roadway milling and paving and other work.

Drivers are reminded to move through construction zones with caution, obey posted speed limits and always buckle their seatbelts.
