Update: Police identify driver
LEWISTOWN – The driver of Saturday’s hit and run crash at the intersection of Country Club and Middle roads in Granville Township has been identified, according to a report from Granville Township Police.
The report indicates Derek Confer, 35, of McVeytown, turned himself in after police identified him through witnesses and tips from the public. Pending charges include accidents involving personal injury, accidents involving damage to attended vehicle, duty to give information and render aid, immediate notice of accident to police, reckless driving, unregistered vehicle and unauthorized transfer or use of registration.
The crash occurred at 5:50 p.m. Saturday when a white Toyota hit a Toyota 4-Runner, forcing the 4-Runner off the road and into a ditch. The driver of the white Toyota did not stop and sped away at a high rate of speed. The 40-year-old female driver of the Toyota 4-Runner was taken to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital for treatment of injuries.
