Highway rollover injures local men
MILROY – Eastbound U.S. 322 traffic in Milroy was diverted for several hours Wednesday morning after a single tractor trailer accident, according to a report from Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown.
The report concluded William Shafranich, 48, of Reedsville, was driving a 1996 International tractor trailer, and he lost control when his load shifted while traveling on the curve of a ramp on U.S. 322. According to the report, this caused the tractor trailer to rollover onto the driver’s side of the vehicle. The report concluded the load on the trailer, a backhoe, then continued to travel down U.S. 322 coming to a stop in the right lane. According to the report, the tractor trailer continued to travel south, coming to a stop on the ramp.
The report stated that both Shafranich and his passenger, Dale Packard, 47, of Lewistown, were injured and taken to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital. According to the report, an investigation determined that the load of the tractor trailer was not fastened securely.
The report stated that Shafranich will be cited for the accident.
