Borough receives loan for wastewater treatment plan

LEWISTOWN – The Lewistown Borough Municipal Authority received a $4 million loan to help off-set the cost of the new wastewater treatment plant currently under construction.

This loan comes through the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority, known as PENNVEST, and, according to Borough Manager John White, the project has been in the works for the past three years.

Overall 11 counties were granted loans or grants through PENNVEST for a mixture of projects to improve drinking water and waste water projects.

White said the project is nearing completion and residents are welcome to attend an open house which is tentatively planned for October.
