Barker-Wise appointed to fill council vacancy
BURNHAM – Burnham Borough Council appointed a temporary council person to fill the vacant seat left by Council member Jeff Plank at its Monday night meeting.
At the July meeting, Plank told council he had to leave his position because he no longer lived in the borough, leaving council to fill the vacancy within the following month. Three people applied for the position, with the understanding that they will only serve the remaning term left by Plank. In a three to one vote, with Council President Bob Soccio, Vice President Rodeny Barger and Council member James Wentel casting yes votes, council appointed Lisa Barker-Wise, of 4th Avenue, Burnham, to the position. Council member Tom Garver cast the single no vote.
In other business:
Wentel said Boy Scout Troop 16 did a good job painting the sidewalks, which was being done as an Eagle Scout project for one of its members.
Council approved a resolution for the continued use of some streets and sidewalks for Nittany Media’s fiber optic cables.
The next meeting of the Burnham Borough Council will be at 7 p.m. on Sept. 15, at the Burnham Borough Building located at 200 First Avenue, Burnham.
