TIU Community Education Services has new name after reorganization

LEWISTOWN – Tuscarora Intermediate Unit 11’s Community Education Services program, based at CareerLink in Lewistown, has changed names. The agency, with additional services at the Juniata County Learning Center, is now known as TIU Community Education and Workforce Services.

As the organization celebrates 30 years of service to the community, the name change was made to better reflect the services provided following a reorganization. In addition, staffing has been restructured. Adele Craig, a leader in workforce development, is now the Director of TIU CEWS supported by management and direct service staff.

The organization still maintains education services for children and adults in various programs.

On the workforce side, CEWS provides support for job seekers in developing computer skills, completing online applications, developing resumes and interviewing skills and obtaining job leads as well as other services. There are specific programs for in-school and out-of-school youth to support their career exploration and work experiences.

Employers can receive assistance in recruiting, screening and interviewing prospective employees.

A new addition at the CareerLink is the Employers’ Service Suite that offers space for employers for meetings, trainings and other activities. These additional services are coordinated by CEWS’ Business Service Consultant Cher Harpster.

Many other services are also available through CEWS, and customers are welcome to come to PA CareerLink Mifflin County for more information from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each Wednesday. Individuals can also call 248-4942 with questions.
