Three to vie for Juniata County Veterans Queen
MIFFLINTOWN – Three Veterans Queen candidates will vie this year for the Juniata County Veterans Council’s $1,000 “Cissy York” Scholarship Award.
Candidates are McKala Rena Dressler, Cori Jo Ruble and Chanda Ross.
The annual Veterans Council Queen’s Ball will be held on Nov. 7 at the CJEMS Building in Mifflintown; the annual Veterans’ Day Parade will be held Nov. 8 in Thompsontown.
Dressler is the 16-year-old daughter of Eric and Kim Dressler, of Port Royal. She is a senior at Juniata High School. Her activities include soccer, basketball, Key Club, Tri M, Drama Club, Scholastic J and Prom Committee. She plans to attend a four year college, majoring in business administration. Her sponsor is Lowell Dressler.
Ruble is the 16-year-old daughter of Zina Ruble and Sam Klinger, of Mifflintown, and Tony Ruble, of Mifflintown. She is a senior at Juniata High School. Her activities include basketball, track and field, Scholastic J and National Honor Society. She plans to attend college for a bachelor degree to become a veterinarian technician. Her sponsor is Marlin (Skip) Garland.
Ross is the 16-year-old daughter of Christopher Ross, of McAlisterville. She is a senior at East Juniata High School. Her activities include “escaping from reality and being a different person while participating in plays and musicals.” She plans to join the National Guard and then attend college for massage therapy and marine biology. Her sponsors are Bruce Dressler and Curt Fry. She is a candidate in memory of Reginal R. Ross.
