Back Maitland work will cause closing
LEWISTOWN -A closure on Back Maitland Road will begin on Monday, July 14, when crews close the route southwest of Wagner and begin work to remove a bridge and replace it with a box culvert. The new structure will be aligned with the stream to improve water flow and decrease back-up.
A detour will be in place through July 25 directing motorists to use U.S. 522 and Crossover Drive. Local residents may choose to use alternate routes.
The current bridge spans a section of Jacks Creek on Back Maitland Road, about a mile southwest of Wagner in Decatur Township. The 10-foot bridge was originally built in 1922 and now carries about 1,200 vehicles each day.
