Train hits car

GRANVILLE – One man was flown to the Altoona Trauma Center around 10:07 a.m. Friday after his vehicle was hit by a train in Granville Township, according to a report from Granville Township Police Department.

Police said a 91-year-old man from Lewistown drove onto the train tracks intersecting Anderson Road and then stopped, causing the Norfolk Southern train to hit the vehicle. According to the report the man sustained unknown injuries. His name is being withheld pending notification of the family.

Police were assisted by Granville, McVeytown and Junction fire companies, Fame EMS, representatives from Norfolk Southern, and Granville Township fire police.
