Benefit auction set for this weekend

McCLURE – The 24th Anniversary Benefit Auction to support Mifflin County Christian Academy is set for Friday and Saturday at the Mifflin County Youth Park, in Reedsville.

More than 200 gift certificates from local businesses are scheduled to be auctioned beginning at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the park. Businesses featured on the school’s website include Downtown OIP & Grille, Metzler Forest Products LLC, Foss Jewelers, Yoder’s Tees & More, Sheetz and The Bread of Life Restaurant.

The general auction is set to begin at 9 a.m. Saturday. Featured items include four Disney theme park one-day hopper passes, two tickets for June 8 to Pocono Raceway, a week at Camp Kanesatake, a fly-fishing lot, Buck hunting knife, FoxPro equipment and more. Furniture and housewares, collectibles and other miscellaneous items will be offered at the general auction too.

MCCA students contributed to class projects that also will be sold at the auction. Projects and the grade behind them include: “Children’s Sleepover,” kindergarten through fifth grades; “Welcome Home,” first and second grade; “Car Care,” third and fourth grade; “Cozy Quiet Time Coffee Corner,” fifth and sixth grade; “Bake My Day,” seventh and eighth grade; and “Peaceful,” ninth through 12th grades.

A concession stand will offer food and drinks on both days of the event. Chicken barbecue will be available beginning at noon on Friday, and strawberry pies are available for pickup from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday. Those interested in barbecue or pies should pre-order by calling 543-2200.

Payment is accepted by cash, check or major credit cards. Proceeds benefit Mifflin County Christian Academy.
