Spring collection planned

LEWISTOWN – The borough of Lewistown will begin spring leaf collection services on April 7 and continue until April 21.

Collection will be performed Monday through Friday on the next working day following a customer’s normal trash collection day. For example customers whose trash is normally collected Wednesday will have leaves collected Thursday. Residents who need to dispose of leaves should place them at the curb in any plastic trash bag prior to 6 a.m. on the pick-up day, and borough trash tags are not required.

Leaves are not permitted to be raked loose into the street and residents are reminded to not mix trash, grass clippings, yard waste or any other materials with the leaves or leaves will not be taken. The leaves are not allowed to be put out for pick-up with regular trash.

After the last pick-up date on April 21, residents may bring their leaves to the borough warehouse facility located at Washington Avenue at no charge from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.. Anyone having questions or requiring additional information may call the borough refuse office at 248-1331 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
