First funds distributed to victims of Juniata Terrace fire

LEWISTOWN – The United Way of Mifflin-Juniata and Juniata Valley Bank has issued the first round of checks to each household affected by last week’s fire in Juniata Terrace.

The two organizations collaborated to collect funds from the community to benefit the victims. According to a press release issued Monday, $8,235 was raised over the weekend.

The release indicates that donations can be made at any branch of JVB, and disbursement checks will continue to be issued weekly as long as contributions are made to the fund.

Juniata Terrace fire victims can collect their checks from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, at the United Way, 13 E. Third St., Lewistown. Other arrangements for pickup can be made by contacting Roxie Garrett at 248-9636.
