Youth encouraged to enter safety contest
LEWISTOWN – “Safer, Smarter on the Farm” is the theme of the 2014 Pennsylvania Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee coloring page, poster drawing, essay and webpage design contest.
The safety coloring page contest is open to any youth ages 4 to 6 years old. To receive a copy of the coloring page, contestants can download it at www.pfb.com/safetycontests. Entries will be judged on neatness, appropriateness of coloring, appearance and coloring within the lines. All entries must include the following information on the back of the coloring page: name, address, phone number, county, age category and parent(s) names.
The poster drawing contest is open to any youth ages 7 to 12 years old with two categories: 7-9 years old and 10-12 years old. Drawings must be 8 x 11 inches in size, no larger. Drawings must be in color and include a slogan of 10 words or less which addresses the theme. Drawings must be original. Entries must include the following on the back of the drawing: name, address, phone number, county, age category and parent(s) name.
The essay contest is open to youth ages 13 to 18 years in two categories: 13-15 years old and 16-18 years old. The minimum number of words is 200; the maximum 300. Entries must include the following on the back of the essay: name, address, phone number, county, age category and parent(s) name.
The safety webpage contest is open to any youth ages 13 to 18 years old in the following categories: 13-15 years old and 16-18 years old. A first place and second place winner will be chosen in each age category. Basic requirements include use of the contest theme and other related information to the viewer of the webpage; inclusion of text on the page pertaining to the theme; different sizes of text demonstrating headlines and body text; at least one graphic element (photos, videos or illustrations) which relates to the theme; use of color in either text or backgrounds; at least one link to another website or another page. Entries must include the following when requesting a webpage on the site: name, address, phone number, county, age category and parent(s) name.
