United Way accepting applications for receiving funding

LEWISTOWN – The United Way of Mifflin-Juniata is accepting funding applications from qualifying nonprofit human-service organizations in Mifflin and Juniata counties for programs producing results in one of three United Way impact areas: income, education or health.

The application deadline is noon April 25.

Applying organizations must be tax exempt, be in compliance with laws regulating nonprofits and provide direct human services to Mifflin and Juniata county residents, addressing needs outlined in the 2012 Human Services Needs Assessment. The assessment can be found by visiting www.co.mifflin.pa.us, then clicking “Departments,” “Human Services” and “Needs Assessment.”

“We have a tradition of raising a significant number of resources and investing money in the organizations across the counties that are doing good work to improve people’s lives in our communities,” Executive Director Marie Mulvihill said.

A panel of volunteers reviews the applications and will interview agencies in April and May. The United Way’s board of directors will approve awards in June and July.
