Centre Hall teen dies in Friday car crash

CENTRE HALL – Logan Michael Bonar, 18, of Centre Hall, was killed in a car accident on Friday evening, according to a report from Pennsylvania State Police Rockview.

Police said the accident occurred at 9 p.m. on the 600 Block of Old Fort Road in Potter Township, Centre County. According to the report, Bonar was driving a 2001 Buick Century at 70 mph in a 45 mph zone when he lost control of the car after traveling over a section of water and ice on the road. Police said the car then traveled off the road and made an initial impact with the right front end into a tree.

According to the report, after initial impact the car traveled 100 feet along a ditch/embankment before making a secondary impact with the right front end/undercarriage into the ditch, causing the car to go airbone approximately five feet. Police said the car then made a third impact with the passenger side rear door and hood area, spun clockwise approximately 90 degrees, before coming to rest.

According to the report, Bonar was not wearing a seat belt and was transported to Mt. Nittany Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Police said the car suffered severe damage throughout and had to be towed from the scene.
